Thank you so much for all of your kind emails and comments. Unfortunately, my real work (as in, the work I get paid to do) has been taking up a huge chunk of my time. I will be updating this blog very shortly with loads of new photographs, properties for sale, commercial buildings and history, and maybe even some interior photos of featured buildings.

Please help. We recently purchases a mid-century home in college town. it is located at 483 stanford avenue. You actually have it listed on your website. We are looking for designers/contractors/etc. who may have a track record with these types of homes or at least interested in working with classic modern structures rather than on McMansions. THANKS in advance!
So glad to see a couple of new posts. Have really missed this blog.
Have you seen this listing?

I would love to crash an open house here.
This is a great home on a wonderful street! There are lots of places like this sprinkled among the newly built A. Hayes Town-esque McMansions that have popped up all over town.
Surprisingly, Bocage subdivision has several of these diamonds-in-the-rough that have miraculously – so far – escaped the wrecking ball. There was a twin brother/sister of 1244 Carolyn Sue (Broadmoor) that was bulldozed on Richards Drive in Bocage years ago. What a shame – these are no doubt considered to be embarrassing architectural throwbacks by the cultured fine folks of Baton Rouge’s upscale nouveaux neighborhoods – too bad for all of us that they have no idea what they’ve got right under their upwardly-mobile noses!
Having left Baton Rouge for another part of the country, I miss the delight of wondering what mid-century delight lurks amongst the oaks. My family will be taking a trip back to visit my mother-in-law in a couple of weeks and I would love to have a list of neighborhoods that prove good for mid-century scouting. Can you help?
Thanks for your hard work on this site, and I look forward to your new posts!
Hi,
my husband & I have just been transferred to Dallas, TX. with his job. We hate to leave Baton Rouge- our hearts will ALWAYS be here, & hopefully, we’ll be back one day in the not too distant future. We have listed our mid-century modern home at 3153 Gladden Avenue with CJ Brown. It’s the corner of Gladden & Parker, Hundred Oaks area. It’s so very cool, with hardwoods & terrazzo floors, gunite pool, indoor hot tub, (which we converted to saltwater), wet bar- all original 1950′s… the list goes on. I’d love to post pics here, if we could. I am terrified that someone who does not “get it” will come in & carpet, wallpaper, or something else as outlandish & sinful. Please help us find a buyer who will respect & preserve this amazing home! If anyone rides by & can catch us in the yard, we are happy to show it off!
